I’ve seen some overwhelming landscapes in my life. My paintings are not exact representations of Nature. In a way they are a play with the forces of Nature. The quality of the different elements water, fire, earth and air attract me. Water stretches itself and becomes a cloud where gasses speed into a shower of stones. Events happen in time, so natural and so unpredictable. Nature has the capacity to keep me here. She opens up, giving space to the messages of the winds, the waters, the skies, and gravity...and the sudden rise and fall of flames.
What does that have to do with painting? Nothing and everything. As a witness of the seas I learned to give up my will. Pushing the horizon away with my boat, I realized I would never reach it. The minute I start thinking ahead, I mess up. Letting the inner noise fade is crucial to me as it allows that which wants to come into existence.
From this approach these oil paintings arise. They can be viewed in a far away universe, somewhere inside.
